Dragon Nest Art Suite, Ice Hotel, Sweden
The Ice Hotel in Jukkasjärvi is located 200 kilometers north of the Arctic Circle. Every year artists from around the world gather to re-build the hotel using the crystal clear water from the nearby Torne River. Artists Dorjsuren Lkhagvadorj and Bazarsad Bayarsaikhan designed the Dragon Nest Suite.
Going to sleep at night means snuggling up inside a polar sleeping bag on top of reindeer hides wearing thermals and a woolly hat. In the morning a glass of hot lingonberry juice is delivered before a sauna and breakfast.
The fantastic ice bar is the place for a cold, crisp vodka cocktail.
During the day activities include guided Northern Lights tours by snowmobile or bus, dog-sledding and reindeer-sledding excursions, horseback riding to watch moose, ice sculpting, and Raidú – an encounter with the Sami culture.
There’s even an ice chapel for weddings.
